Boxing Day at Rhossili Bay

We celebrated Christmas in Wales this year. On Boxing Day, we bowed out of the usual festivities to spend the afternoon at Rhossili Bay. It was wonderful to soak up the sunshine and breath in the fresh sea air. The weather was tremendously cooperative for most of the day and it felt as if it were a proper holiday at the beach—even if that beach happened to be on the chilly North Atlantic coast of Britain in the merry month of December. I’m not really complaining, because just look at that view. What a beach it is! Absolutely stunning.
We weren’t the only ones that had the bright idea of walking along the coastal paths and sandy shores of Rhossili Bay today. There were plenty of others taking in the splendid views and walking off the after effects of one to many puddings.
- Heat Wave
- My best attempts to stay acclimated to the cold are being ambushed by a heat wave. Today it got up to 47° in the Chicago area and tomorrow temperatures are expected to inch even closer to 50 degrees Farenheit.
- Carl Rungius
- In 2011, Phil and I visited Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park. At the end of our stay, we drove out through Jackson, Wyoming and as we did, we came upon the National Museum of Wildlife Art.
- Haleakala in the Fog
- On the last day of our visit, we check out of the Ritz Carlton and ask to rent a car. Our flight is late in the evening and we hope to sightsee during the day. But the car rental desk at the Ritz refuses to rent us one of the many dozens of vehicles in their lot because we have just checked out.
