Monday afternoon. Well-rested after an exhausting eclipse viewing excursion, we embark on a proper mini-break. We drive up to Estes Park for a three-night stay in the Old Caretaker’s Cottage at McGregor Mountain Lodge. Upon arrival, the cabin delights. It’s spacious, bright, clean, comfortable. Equipped with full-size fridge, comfortable recliners, and calming mountain views. Better than The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua.
- The Loch
- I wake at four am to a chirping duet of alarm clocks. For a moment, I contemplate how wonderful it would be to shut them both off, roll over, and go back to sleep. But then I recall my plan to hike to The Loch today.
- Horseshoe Park Overlook
- Today I made a quick trip up to Rocky Mountain National Park to renew my annual pass and to drive around the park for an hour before heading back home to catch up on laundry and cleaning.
- Beguiled by the Wild
- The Lake County Museum recently hosted an exhibit of Charley Harper’s wonderful artwork and I was lucky enough to get over there to view the exhibit.
