Looking across the still waters of Bear Lake to the landscape beyond, I admire the scattering of bright gold aspen on the mountain slope beyond. Today marks only the first day of fall, but if the forecast holds, the colorful leaves I see now will soon be on the ground. By tomorrow morning, wintry temperatures and feisty winds will have moved in. Such conditions are sure to strip branches bare. But not to worry, today the weather is gorgeous and I’m on my way to a lake I’ve never visited before.
- Sunshine and Snow
- Last week, Phil and I went for a hike in the Lumpy Ridge area. This was our first hike of the New Year and the first time this winter that we ventured out onto proper trails that were covered in snow, even if it was just an inch or two.
- An Outdoor Living Room
- Outdoor rooms in Hawaii are magical. I relish the sounds of nature, busy but soft and nurturing. Birds sweep through the room, then out of sight. Breezes come and go at their leisure. Cushions grow warm in the sunlight.
- Garden of the Gods Wilderness
